The Mediterranean Diet is highly popular for good reason. Many “diets” don’t work because something is forbidden in them. The Mediterranean Diet is not so much a “diet” but a cultural way of life that has existed for thousands of years. It is considered to be one of the healthiest diets in the world, as well as going along with my motto “Everything in moderation”. The diet emphasizes lots of fresh vegetables, fruits, seafood, chicken, eggs, healthy grains, and healthy fats found in foods such as olives, avocados, nuts and fish. And best of all, the diet includes heart healthy Red Wine! Eaten in moderation would be carbs such as bread and pasta which is more of a side dish rather than a main course as well as red meat and dairy. Due to the large amount of healthy fats and the low amount of unhealthy, saturated fats, the Mediterranean Diet promotes lower rates of cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
