It’s so easy to make your own natural perfume with essential oils. Start by smelling different essential oils to determine which ones you like. Ideally you will have at least one top note (lavender, lemon, bergamot, orange, grapefruit, basil, etc.), one middle note (clary sage, geranium, jasmine, neroli, rose, rosemary, ylang ylang, etc.), and one base note (angelica root, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla, etc.), but you don’t have to limit it to three, it’s just best that you have some from each category for a well rounded scent. The top note is the scent you smell first but evaporates quickest, the base note lingers and evaporates slowest. You can purchase a little glass container preferably brown or blue to protect the essential oils from light from a natural food store or online. You may want to buy a few so that you can experiment. Start by adding one drop of each of your essential oils into your bottle and smell, then continue to add a drop at a time to adjust the ratio according to your personal preference. Use coffee beans or ground coffee to clear your nose between testing the scent as you add your drops. For a one ounce bottle, use about 30 drops of essential oil, 4 tsp vodka, and 1 tsp distilled water. You can also adjust this ratio, for example if you want a lighter fragrance you can add a little more distilled water and if you want a stronger fragrance you can add more essential oils, but just remember to allow for the size of the bottle you have. Also keep in mind the therapeutic benefits of the oils. You can chose oils according to the effect you would like such as energizing, calming, antidepressant, aphrodisiac, and so on. Have fun!
CAUTION: PLEASE REMEMBER THAT MANY ESSENTIAL OILS ARE HIGHLY TOXIC TO PETS, SO PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR PETS COME INTO CONTACT WITH THEM. EVEN DIFFUSING THEM INTO THE AIR CAN BE TOXIC FOR THEM.
